Composition Instructor Job Responsibilities


A composition instructor is a job position which falls under the career category of the English language and literature in the school level of studies or postsecondary level.  A composition instructor must be well versed in the English language and should hold the certificate which allows him/her to teach at the secondary school level. He/she is a teacher whose job is to provide knowledge and education about the English language and focus mainly on literature composition etc. there are a number of job responsibilities and duties which a composition instructor has to perform and the following given points will throw light on some of these responsibilities:

  • A composition instructor is responsible for teaching the students about the intricacies of the English language such as grammar, literature, document composition etc.
  • Another job responsibility of a composition instructor is to evaluate the students on the basis of the performance given at class tests etc and also grade them.
  • It is the job responsibility of a composition instructor to initiate and implement classroom discussions so that students become well versed at debate, discussion etc.
  • It is the responsibility of a composition instructor to prepare charts, presentations etc to teach students in a creative way.
  • Another major job responsibility of a person working as a composition instructor is to prepare the syllabus of the course and also make homework assignments, test papers etc. He then needs to hand over these assignments and tests etc to the students to complete and then collect them back on completion.
  • A composition instructor is also responsible for conferring and collaborating with the other teachers to address the various teaching and course related issues and matters.
  • He/she must also organize and take part in school programs and conduct parent teacher meetings with the parents of the students.
