A desktop support engineer is an employee of a company who is hired to resolve hardware and software related issues of a workplace or the company.   • One of the major job responsibilities of a desktop support engineer is to provide diagnosis, investigation, recovery and resolution of various types of hardware problems and software issues.
  • It is the responsibility of a desktop support engineer to receive and manage service requests and look after the software installation and upgradation etc.
  • A desktop support engineer is responsible for the backup of all the data of the company and storing it safely.
  • It is the responsibility of a desktop support engineer to record the various incident resolutions so that they can be used for future troubleshooting purposes and research etc.
  • He/she may also be given the responsibility of training new desktop support trainees or engineers.
  • Another responsibility which a person working as a desktop support engineer has to fulfill is to provide an assessment of the urgency and the business impact on the support calls etc.
