The main role of the legal secretary is to find and gather relevant and valid information for the cases of the client. For this, they need to maintain and keep track of the legal filings, pleadings, site inspections and meetings. Also they provide administrative help to other lawyers in the team.

Along with this, they perform daily clerical activities that’s required for the efficient functioning of a legal office.

Legal Secretary Job Responsibilities

  • Drafting of legal documents and notices.
  • Handle the managerial duties of the firm.
  • Finding relevant information for the cases.
  • Maintain legal files and other important journals
  • Assist other lawyers in carrying out research and compiling important documents.
  • Will have to type documents of legal importance.
  • Schedule court hearings and maintain court diaries.
  • Schedule meetings and other conferences.
  • Notify and inform interested parties about the meetings.
  • Preparing the trial notes of various attorneys.
  • Maintain calendar for law examiners and other attorneys, so that there is no conflict of scheduled meetings or hearings.
  • Provide useful recommendation for increasing the efficiency, functioning and budget of the legal operations.
  • Handle & place telephonic calls.
  • Assist attorneys for collecting details like medical, employment and other such records.
  • They help in drafting and typing the office memos.
