A School Receptionist is usually the first point of contact when a visitor enters a school. She assists the visitors with their queries and guides them. School visitors are mostly interested in meeting certain teachers or the administrative staff for some reason or the other. The receptionist speaks to the particular staff member or teacher or the department to which the teacher belongs and conveys the visitors’ message to them.

School Receptionist Job Responsibilities

  • School Receptionist is required to greet the visitors who come to the school and assist them by directing them to the person they intend to meet.
  • School Receptionist is required to answer the queries of the visitors who come to the school. She is also required to attend people on the phone.
  • School Receptionist is required to take down the messages incase the person whom the visitor or caller wants to speak to is busy.
  • School Receptionist is expected to keep the reception desk and the reception area clean and tidy.
  • School Receptionist is required to make outgoing calls to the parents to inform them about the parents-teacher meeting and invite them for the same.
  • School Receptionist is also required to send out invitation cards or make phone calls to the parents to invite them for other occasions at school such as festival celebrations, competitions, etc.
  • School Receptionist needs to welcome the parents whenever they come to school.
  • School Receptionist is also required to coordinate with the administration department and help them in various activities such as sending out couriers, maintaining record books, files, etc.
