ESL stands for English as a second language and an esl instructor is thus a teacher who teaches English language to all those students who have opted to study English as their second language subject at school or at any other educational institution.

An ESL instructor not only teaches reading, writing and speaking English but acquaints students with facts about this language and about the countries where English is spoken as a primary language. The following is a list of the important job responsibilities of an ESL instructor:

  • Any person who is working as an ESL instructor is responsible for imparting English language education to students, depending upon their level of study.

  • How the students fair in the tests and how they learn English as their second language is a responsibility of the instructor and hence he/she must work hard to solve their doubts and clarify minutest details.
  • Another responsibility of an ESL instructor is to help students with daily lessons, communicate with students to analyze their learning capabilities and evaluate students to comprehend their level of English fluency.
  • Preparing tests sheets and taking attendance are also some of the important job responsibilities of an ESL instructor.
