The construction industry is divided into three. These include construction of buildings headed by contractors who build residential, industrial and commercial buildings. Then there are civil and heavy engineering contractors who build roads, sewers, bridges dams and other projects related to the nation’s infrastructure. Contractors coordinate construction work and take full responsibility for the overall construction job. They sub contract work to the special trade contractors. He plans the project and once complete; he inspects the project to ensure that all guidelines have been followed.
Building contractors have the responsibility of monitoring the project in a timely and correct manner. He employs support staff and supervises their work. The contractor is the key contact person to whom questions are directed regarding a project at any time. The contractors deal with emergencies that may occur on site.
